The 50s of Fashion in France

During summer Paris always has many interesting to see for me to explore the city. Recently I went to musée de la mode Palais Galliera to see the journey of The 50s of fashion in France. Long and full skirts, bright floral strip printed, cocktail dress, petticoats, basques are majority style couture of the 50s.

From this exhibition I get more knowledge about french couture especially in 1950s. Jacques Heim, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, Jacques Fath apparently they are the seniors of french couture before 50s. It was started in late 40s; Christian Dior launched his fashion house’s first collection in 1947 and afterwards followed by other new comers such as Pierre Balmain, Jacques Griffe, Hubert de Givenchy and Pierre Cardin.

In the 50s too they also made huge revolution movement from haute couture to ready to wear. In 1954 Jacques Fath, Robert Piquet, Paquin, Carven, jean Dessès founded the Couturiers Associés – the first haute couture ready to wear licensing company.

It was the golden age of french haute couture at that time and since then Paris as world fashion capital.
