My New Treasure…The Songket.

Iwent to Tanah Abang Market the other day to see if the market has changed since the last time I went there 3 years ago. I’m glad the market inside the building Block A has not changed yet  😀

What I love this place is, you will find any type of textiles here whether ready to wear or still in fabric. No wonder Tanah Abang is The Biggest Textile market in South East Asia. I used to go there often, exploring, wondering if I found unique or cute fabric I like.

On that day I was looking for the songket, a fabric hand-woven in silk or cotton patterned with silver or gold threads. I want to wear songket fabric in pants, dress or blazer in Paris later on. Definitely I will look different in Paris!

In fact these days the songket is not only made by hand-woven anymore. You can find them made by machine too. It’s still look beautiful though for me and the price is more affordable than the one by hand made. After walking several floors through the shops, finally I’ve found my treasure! I’ve bought 2 different patterns and I will show you later what they will look like to be wear and it will suit on me or not.

We’ll see!
