Australian designer Bowie Wong debuts his Couture collection in Paris Haute Couture as part of the exclusive ‘members invitées‘ this year, it is his first international runaway show. The show was held at the Australian embassy supported by Australian make up and hair team.
Bowie Wong considered new in the fashion world, started his career in 2000 and presented his couture collections at the Australian Fashion Week in 2011 onwards and what a fashion fairytale to be invited to the Paris Haute Couture 4 years later. Patronage by Elie Saab, who has kept an eye on his career definitely has its perks, and he did have a good eye and it looks like a promising start for Bowie Wong.
Presenting his ‘Immortality’ collections, it is not just a feast for the eyes but music to your ears. Opening with a black body suit covered with hand-stitched gold bells, create harmonious zen like melody to your ears, as the model glide effortlessly around the room. A wonderful opening to a collection that presents an exploration and creation of modern couture.
The simple designs enhanced with the use of luxurious materials, detailed embroidery, beaded work and off course some hand-stitched bells. Modern and yet you can see the exquisite craftsmanship that goes into every dress. The use of capes with different detailing and materials somehow added the masculinity and power to the delicate designs. The collection is predominantly filled with black, gold and white, with some showing a bit of skin. There is a subtlety approach in his design, modern design combined with intricate ornamentation making the perfect marriage of couture and modern exploration.
